I’ve had quite a lot of experience with fitness trackers but there’s something very special about the Misfit Shine. It’s so unobtrusive and simple to use that it’s easy to fit it in with your life. I’m not going to do a full review yet as I’m still testing out my Misfit Shine but there will be one coming in the new year.
For now, let me tell you a bit about it. It’s a little disc that can be worn as a bracelet or necklace or can be clipped to clothes and shoes. Unlike some fitness trackers, you can see your progress without having to connect it to your phone. All you have to do is tap the middle of the Shine twice. You then get lights showing your progress before it switches to telling you the time.
It can be used to track every element of your fitness although, from what I can tell, it’s best used for tracking walking/jogging, cycling and swimming. It really does get you moving too and that’s the best thing about it. No matter how active you are currently, you can set a goal to help you move more. I’ve set myself the middle goal (although you can customise yours) which is akin to about 1.5 hours of walking a day.
I’ve hit it the last three days running. I’m choosing to walk rather than drive just so I can hit that goal. I don’t need a lot of motivation to exercise but even if you hate exercising (especially at this time of the year) it might be the boost you need. I can’t even begin to explain how wonderful my walks have been this last week.
It all syncs with a phone app. You don’t need to plug the Shine in, you just have to go to the app and it’ll sync automatically. Either place it on the phone or just keep wearing it as normal. You’ll then be able to see how close you are to your goal as well as how far you’ve travelled, calories burnt and points for the day.
I’ve got one Misfit Shine to giveaway to a lucky person. Hopefully it’ll be able to change the way you move too. There are a number of ways you can enter. Firstly, you have to follow @Misfitwearables on Twitter. From there you can earn extra entries by following Feeling Stylish and tweeting about the competition. Take a look at the widget below to enter.
Good luck everyone and hopefully this will keep you on track with those new year’s resolutions once 2014 arrives!
