Brits are consuming more coconut water than ever with spending on the stuff up by 64% from last year. We’re also spending £14 million a year on coconut oil. I, for one, love coconut oil as it has so many uses. In my house it’s used almost every day for cooking but it’s also a great ingredient for hair and face masks.
Holland and Barrett has put together this infographic that shows just how the world uses coconuts.
You can also use coconut oil in a technique known as pulling. Used primarily in Ayurvedic medicine, oil pulling is a fantastic oral detoxification procedure that is simply done by swishing a tablespoon of oil in your mouth for 10 minutes on an empty stomach. It’s supposed to help draw out toxins, reduce the chance of gingivitis, better breath and improved sleep. If you have any questions speak to a professional such as Hampstead Orthodontic Practice.
There are plenty of studies to back up the benefits of pulling and it’s one of the ways our ancient ancestors lived their lives with full sets of teeth. Well, that and the fact they weren’t eating any processed sugar.
