Try the jumpsuit trend in 2012

Who would have thought, when the jumpsuit first emerged as high fashion wear in the 1960s, that the trend would still be alive and kicking in the year 2012? Before jumpsuits initially became fashionable, they had formerly been synonymous with the workwear of pilots and sportsmen. And, following the 60s, they later became associated with the flamboyant stage costumes of glam rock acts.

Ten years ago, anyone wearing a jumpsuit on a night out might have been deemed slightly eccentric, but over the last few years celebrities like Keira Knightley and Rihanna have been photographed wearing stylish jumpsuits, and the trend has caught like wildfire – leading the jumpsuit to experience a triumphant revival. Jumpsuits were absolutely everywhere in the summer of 2011, and it looks like we can expect the same in 2012!

If you have yet to be converted to the jumpsuit cause and fear that the look can only be pulled off by 6-foot-tall model types, don’t fret – jumpsuits are easy to wear, flatter every body shape, and offer a perfect alternative to dresses.

If you’re looking to buy jumpsuits for women in the UK, shop at Very for a great, on-trend collection that caters for women of all shapes. Ladies with an hourglass figure should try a wide-legged jersey jumpsuit for a night out and accessorise with a clutch bag and heels.

Or, if you’re on the petite side and want to elongate your legs, try a tuxedo style jumpsuit that tapers in at the ankle and pair with chunky heels. Alternatively, if you’d like to express your fun and quirky side, try a bright coloured jumpsuit with a wide leg fit, or a jumpsuit with a busy print – both florals and paisley prints are very much in fashion this Spring/Summer.

Finally, remember that you can accessorise your jumpsuit with a belt around the waist to give your figure extra definition, and cropped jackets are a perfect way to complete the look. To try out the trend for yourself, click here for the collection of jumpsuits at Very.
