An odd connection you might think, but it was recently brought to my attention that Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson are big fans of Clive Christian perfume. When something claims to be ‘the most expensive perfume in the world’ my ears prick up. Alas, I couldn’t get my hands on a sample and I certainly couldn’t afford it but I wanted the chance to gush about the gorgeous bottles and post pictures of Daniel and Emma.
Emma stated that her most expensive purchase was a bottle of the No. 1 perfume from Clive Christian. It was made with no thoughts to cost and remains the most expensive perfume in the world at £430 for 50ml or a staggering £1020 for a 30ml crystal bottle.
It has scented the gardens of Elton John’s White Tie and Tiara Ball and was chosen by Katie holmes as her wedding perfume when she got married to Tom Cruise.
It contains top notes of bergamot and lemon. Heat notes of apricot, jasmine, rose, Ylang Ylang, orchid, plum, pineapple, carnation and peach. The base notes include cedarwood, cardamom, sandalwood, musk and vanilla.
I imagine it to be quite fruity and spicy. Sounds wonderful.
1872 is a fragrance that appeals to everyone, including Daniel Radcliffe. It’s a modern-day homage to Queen Victoria and the original scent from the Royal Perfumery, English Lavender, is still found in the top notes of both the men’s and women’s varieties.
It contains Rose De Mai, a flower so rare that it only blooms for three weeks in the year. It takes 170 rose head to make a single drop of perfume.
It has a fresh, clean, citrusy smell that lasts on the skin all day. A 50ml bottle is £170 and the gorgeous crystal bottle is £830.
Clive Christian perfumes are available from Harrods and Fortnum & Mason.
(I’m sure it’s just a coincidence that the colours of the bottles are parts of the house colours for Gryffindor and Slytherin)
