I love Halloween and I’ve done numerous posts on it in the past. Usually regarding my birthday outings around that time of year. This time, I’m ahead of the curve and am going to be telling you what to wear this year.
You can’t beat a good pirate group moving from pub to pub around Halloween (or any time of the year). I love pirate fancy dress costumes. From the typical wench outfit to something a bit more realistic. I do like to see a parrot on the shoulder too.
Fancy dress shops tend to glamorize this look but pirates were filthy, nasty creatures. Try and bring a bit of authenticity into your pirate fancy dress costume this year by caking yourself in mud, drenchinch your clothes in sea water and blackening out a few teeth.
My all time favourite, as you know. It’s tempting to tell you to dress as a pirate zombie. Actually, do that. You and your friends should get pirate Halloween costumes from Elliot’s Fancy Dress Shop (or similar) and then do full-on zombie make up.
It’ll be different and you’ll be combining two Halloween trends.
Comic book heroes and villains will always be popular but the Joker from Batman is a great one.
You can go as cute or fierce as you want with this. There are plenty of accessories out there that will make this outfit a success. Then you can choose to dress in black or your finest leopard print. A good tip is to cut one leg off a pair of tights and stuff with socks/material etc. Secure the open end and pin to your outfit as a tail!
This might be a bit of a weird one and is certainly more for grown up parties. Why not go as a concept or something intangible. (Think Sheldon’s Doppler Effect costumer from The Big Bang Therory). Can you dress as love, angst, mindfulness?
Maybe it’d be best to stick to zombies and pirate fancy dress…
What will you be dressing as for Halloween?
