Black XS – Be A Rockstar!

Paco Rabanne is continuing the musical journey it started with Black XS and has partnered with Universal music for a very special project, Be A Rockstar. www.be-a-rockstar.com is a new website that allows you to get up close and personal with music. It features behind the scenes interviews and snippets of what life if really like to be a rockstar as well as exclusive musical content.

In addition to all the rock and roll there will be more music than you can shake a stick at! Universal Music France will be giving some lucky people the chance to have some special backstage moments with some of its artists and really experience the music industry.

That's not all. The new collaboration between Paco Rabanne and Universal means there are going to be some very exciting exclusive titbits for you to look at. The Off Shows are nine episodes of pure musical bliss, going behind the scenes with bands such as Cold War Kids, Two Door Cinema Club and The Kaiser Chiefs. The Black XS OFF Shows will be shown on the Be a Rockstar site at the end of the year as well as on the YouTube channel.

When they say Be a Rockstar they aren't joking. The whole website is so immersive that you can use your webcam to sign autographs for fans, warm up a crowd and have groupies flinging themselves at your feet. My real life experiences of rock stardom involve tour buses, rubbish showers and junk food. I don't suppose I was hanging in the right circles was I? Oh and there was whiskey.

What I expect rock stardom to be like is a little bit more glamourous, although not by much.

If you've ever had a love for music or an obsession with touring and being a huge star then this is the collaboration for you. Plus you could win things, which is always nice!

For more info on the campaign, check out the Black XS Facebook page here.

The 500byGucci

Fiat has teamed up with Gucci to celebrate two special anniversaries. 150 years since the unification of Italy and Gucci’s 90th birthday!

Together the two Italian superbrands have produced the Fiat 500 by Gucci.

It’s a stunning little car at the best of times but with the design by Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini, in partnership with Fiat’s Centro Stile, it’s going to look as beautiful as ever.

I own a Fiat Punto so I’m a huge fan of the brand. The sleek lines of the Italian cars are beautiful, they drive well and my little Punto has the ever-useful city drive. I’d be lost without it.

Every time I see a Fiat 500 I wonder if maybe I should trade in for something that zippy and cute. The 500byGucci will be available in the UK with two engine specification choices: the nimble yet economical 1.2 litre – which will cost £14,565 OTR – and the award-winning 0.9 litre TwinAir, priced at £15,765 OTR.

Generally I look for a little more zoom in cars (although my Punto is a 1.2l) but the 500byGucci is so small and light that even a 1.2 engine is going to give it some go!

Initially the new car will be available exclusively online, and is another example of Fiat’s use of e-commerce to sell vehicles, having already enjoyed success with cars such as the special edition Fiat 500 Pink and Fiat 500 Matt Black. The fully automated on-line sales scheme allows customers to pay a deposit, order it directly from the factory, track the car’s progress, make a final payment and even arrange special delivery of the car to their home. Customers will be able to visit www.fiat.co.uk/500bygucci when it goes live later this month.

The upside the it only be available online at first is the fact that you don’t have to spend hours sitting around a Fiat dealership to fill out paper work and to be up sold on stuff.

Look at those beautiful curves. I actually prefer the white. I just think it’s more… Gucci.

Vintage wonder in Norwich

A few weeks ago Ben and I went to The Vintage Fair in Norwich. It was great, full of beautiful people, colourful clothes, fur, jewellery, hats and shiny things.

I should’ve bought this dress. I never thought I’d be able to find so many vintage pieces in my size.

Not sure what this was referring to but it made us think of Lost.

I must’ve tried on every hat in that place. The conclusion: I have a massive head (possibly too much hair).

Don’t Lose Your Grip

I wanted to let you all know about Don’t Lose Your Grip, what they are trying to do is promote a healthy body images and raise some cash for suicide prevention and eating disorder charities.

I feel like this needs to be brought to your attention, the fashion industry is rife with eating disorders and models who promote a very unhealthy body image. The media doesn’t help, it tries to dictate to us what is normal and what is healthy and that leads to a lot of people losing self confidence.

In July Don’t Lose Your Grip will be holding a fashion show. It will promote real people, great clothes and there will be some music to go along with it. All this will be taking place in Liverpool. All the proceeds from the show will go to charity.

There’s loads of way you can get involved. The below is taken from http://dontloseyourgrip.chrisselle.com/

Okay, now the ways you can get involved are as follows;

  • Model; You can participate in the fashion show and photo shoot, in which you will be wearing custom made pieces designed by myself. Now, if you’re sitting there thinking “I’m not model material” I want you to stop it. Because what I mean by ‘model’ is ‘role model’ I want real models. Which means anyone. Of course there is a limit on how many models we will be needing, this is something that I still have to think about as it will depend on the venue and of course, how many people are interested.
  • Band or Solo Artist; Okay, now as you know I’m hoping to also hold a charity concert alongside the fashion show. For this I need bands and or solo artists. I need people that will understand that it’s a charity show and we don’t have a huge budget. But, this is all for everyone to enjoy, and it could be the perfect oppertunity for an underground band. This is a way to get your voices heard. All you have to do is send me a sample of the kind of music you play and I’ll get back to you with if you’re suitable or not.
  • Behind the scenes; You can of course just help out behind the scenes, and by that I mean before the event and also at the event. If you would like to promote us, just give me an email and I’ll get back to you with all the information you need. We also need sponsers so if you can think of someone that would sponser the project please let us know and we shall try our best to get a bigger budget.
