Next dress love

6 May

Obsessing somewhat over one of the gorgeous dresses Next were so kind to send me. I decided to do a little photoshoot complete with Next’s swallow print tights and some of my clumpiest boots.

I’d whacked my hair up out of the way because I’d just had a shower. Completely by accident I made my hair look the best I ever had. Complete with fluffy quiff (as opposed to my usual thoroughly back-combed and hair sprayed quiffs.)

The dress has apples on it. I think my co-captain’s lust for fruit prints has rubbed off on me.

I also want to share with you a couple of milestones in the weight loss journey. Firstly, these are the first normal-sized (hate that term) tights I’ve ever been able to wear. My legs are long and fat. While I’ve been able to lose most of the weight off my stomach – yay – nothing had come off my legs until recently.

A couple of people have remarked how my legs are shrinking.

These boots I bought 2.5 years ago when I started my PR job. They are over-the-knee boots as you can see here. However, prior to Wednesday I’d been wearing them as ruched boots because I couldn’t get them high enough up my calf to get them over my knee.

On Wednesday came a horse-based work do so I put on my smart boots. I pulled them up and they kept going.

Legs are definitely skinnier and I feel very pleased about that!

Seventies Latin funk. What to wear?

5 May

The boyf and I have just spent the last hour trying on clothes ready for the Bonanafana night. I have two outfits in mind. Here is the dress code brief from the website:

Dress Fancy – Think 70′s Latin Porn Funk! Catsuits, feathers, flowers, fedoras, pimps, sharp suits, lycra and shiny pants

Now, these two outfits aren’t particularly seventies but I look rocking. Firstly, which do you prefer? Secondly, what can I add to make then more seventies?

We are going shopping tomorrow so think cheapy things that you can get in high street shops. I’m thinking lots of bling but I’m unsure what sort of jacket to wear. I have an over the top faux fur coat that I might wear but that’ll come off as soon as we hit the club. Blog readers, I am yours to dress.

Part of me reckons a jumpsuit will work, but what sort?

Flower trouser power

4 May

Next were kind enough to send me a voucher to use to buy some pretty clothes. I’ve wanted floral trousers for ages so when I sat that these were half price I picked them up straight away!

Westfield and Wolf Whistle

24 Apr

A few weeks ago after half a bottle of vodka I propositioned the lovely Amy of Wolf Whistle. Shopping in London.

On Saturday that shopping trip happened. We headed to Westfield shopping centre in Stratford. Money was spent. Laughs were had. Amy and I have similar tastes which ended up with us buying three items that were the same. Prepare for photographs…

Amy is the epitome of cool, whereas I look far too excited for my own good.

First up a trip to Primark. We got there earlyish so it didn’t look like a jumble sale. Compared to the Norwich Primark the Westfield one is a palace. A very colourful palace with some questionable clothing choices.

We were already beginning to flag and needed food but not before I’d fallen in love with these ankle boots from Urban Outfitters. I thought at first that £85 was a bit too expensive considering my self-imposed budget of £200 for the day but I couldn’t stop thinking about them! Before I headed off we went back to Urban Outfitters and I bought the beautiful boots.

So excited to experience Forever 21! Fantastic store. The above blazer stole my heart and it’s now mine. The pink dress was hot but made me look a little too lumpy.

IMG_3154

I can barely comprehend how awesome this Aztec print t-shirt dress is.

IMG_3158

Off to H&M and I found this dress in the sale. It’s fake leather. I thought it might be a bit too dominatrix and that it wouldn’t fit because it was a size 14 and had no stretch at all. However, it did fit! It was also £7 so there was no way I couldn’t buy it.

IMG_3160

This is a Marni for H&M jacket. Reduced from £150 to £15 in the sale! Alas, Amy saw it before me and it now belongs to her but I couldn’t help snapping a pic it with my epic Primark dress.

And here is my outfit from the following day. All new clothes and nearly all of it, bar the hat and leggings, from Primark! Those skater dresses are so flattering.
