[Sponsored Video] Get bright with Schwarzkopf Ultra Brights

29 Jan

IIMG_7247 love bright hair. When I was in highschool my hair used to be platinum blonde with pink bits (earning me the name Bagpuss). Since then I’ve been through so many different colours including black/blue/green, purple, brown/red, black/red, black/blue and currently red/ginger.

I’ve hopped on the dip-dye bandwagon. I’ve been looking at the Schwarzkopf Ultra Brights for a while, ever since Bunn the Baker reviewed the Fiery Copper colour. I’ve been itching to dye my hair a really bright colour.

These Ultra Brights work best on pre-lightened hair and are perfect for dip-dyes. I’ve recently bleached my hair with the intention to dye those lighter bits some crazy colour, I just can’t decide what. I have all these ideas and that means I’m being very indecisive.

Tip: Backcomb your hair slightly before dyeing as you’ll get a more graduated colour

colour dip dyeWish I’d seen this video before attempting my own dip-dye last week! I’m so tempted by the Raspberry Rebel featured in the video but I’m not sure how that would look with the rest of my hair being red. Purple and red won’t really go all that well together, I don’t think. Perhaps my gingery red would look good with Pillar Box Red at the ends.

Because these dyes are semi-permanent, it’s a good chance to experiment with colour. I might try purple and if it really looks rubbish I’ll pretend it doesn’t until it’s washed out. Then I can go with red!

Semi-permanent dye is also much better for your hair. Permanent colours tend to look a bit dull. If you want to go for bright and shiny then semi-perm is the way forward.

This is a sponsored post on behalf of Schwarzkopf. Of course, all opinions are my own.

A shoe haul post – featuring Irregular Choice

23 Jan

Today, a nice man knocked at my door and handed me a parcel. It contained these two very pretty boxes.

Irregular Choice and C.Petula

Shoes are always exciting. I’d been waiting a while for these as the snow has made all our post a little slow.

First up are these Irregular Choice shoes. I’m completely head over heels in love with them. I don’t know why I don’t own more Irregular Choice, I have one green pair that I haven’t worn for absolutely ages! I find that shoes like this just slip off my heels. However, I have just invested in some heel grips that should solve this problem.

I love the monochrome look with the little knitted bow. I think I’m going to wear these with a simple black dress, or perhaps something plain in a block colour.

Then there are these C.Petula shoes. I still can’t really comprehend them. Black patent leather, green glitter and a blue heel. These are my perfect shoes.

I can’t wait to style these up. I’ve got some great ideas but the snow is stopping me from going outside in shoes like this!

What would you wear these shoes with?

Outfit: All that glitters is….green

16 Jan

Good afternoon everyone. After a very crazy day yesterday of trying to get places in the snow (and failing,) today I had decided to stay inside. I didn’t even want to look at any snow. I know I had to get a blog post up, though, and hadn’t shown off another of my purchases from New Look. I donned my spangly dress and headed to the conservatory to take some photos.

The light was terrible due to the fact that the entire roof of our glass room is snow-covered. I abandoned that attempt and took off my dainty high heels. I replaced them with Dr Martens and decided to go into the back garden to shoot like I did yesterday.

Well, I couldn’t even get into the back garden as the snow was blocking the back door! After some deliberation I decided to brave the front drive, which is in full view of the busy road and roundabout outside… I got a lot of funny looks during this shoot.

So in love with this look, although perhaps the DMs don’t go as well as I thought they would. They do work nicely with my lipstick and hair, though.

The reason it doesn’t look like there’s much snowfall here is because I’m under a tree. Further down the drive the snow was coming up over my toes! I know we don’t have it bad here in the UK but for me (snow hater) this is a lot!

Review: Palm & Sole Levelling Intense Blam

27 Nov

As you probably already know, I’m a huge fan of Palm & Sole. I love brands that are really transparent in what they do. Palm & Sole make all their products in Norfolk and everything that goes into them is beautiful and natural. They don’t use any cheap bulking agents or fillers. That means that a little bit of the product goes a long way.

I had a sample of the Palm & Sole Levelling Intense Balm from a Jarrold’s beauty event. That ran out a while ago but I soon found myself with a full-size product. It’s more amazing that I remembered.

Kathy, who owns the brand, is an aromatherapist and has told me numerous times that the smell you like the most is the one your body requires. The Levelling scent of those products always calls to me. It just sort of balances me when I’m feeling a bit stressed or confused.

Not only does it smell fantastic but it works wonders for my skin. I use it as a night cream and I’ve been looking fresh-faced and radiant every morning.

I suffer with really dry hands too so I’ve been using it whenever I get in from the cold. My hands feel so much better and they aren’t sore at all. It’s the same with the calluses I’m getting from weight lifting. Slather some Palm & Sole on there and they’re pretty much gone now!

I’d highly recommend everything from Palm & Sole. Especially if you like supporting brands that makes everything in the UK.

You can also follow them on Twitter and Facebook. Kathy runs the Palm and Sole blog too, loads of really interesting information on there and currently there’s a competition running until the end of this month.
