I had the delightful pleasure of going to see Apollo 101 at the Waterfront last night. If I’m honest I was a little nervous, I always am when seeing bands that I’ve only ever heard on CD for the first time. Well, you’ll all be happy to know that I was impressed. I might even go as far to say that they are better on stage than recorded. They have this brilliant energy about them, charisma and musical talent. Despite singer, Chris; sore throat the band performed a brilliant, powerful rendition of “That Don’t Impress Me Much,” by Shania Twain. Their songs are brilliant, catchy and I’m now very, very excited for their single launch on the 15th November.
Check out their Myspace for details of gigs.
Normally a smaller band with vaguely engage the audience but they will stand at the back of the room moping around and pretending to be too cool to listen to small bands. This was not the case with Apollo 101, their sheer energy onstage drew the crowd to the front. Clapping and whooping followed each song, it certainly seems like the band made some new fans and throughly impressed all that were out to see them.
