From the 8th to 11th of June I had the pleasure of rocking it up around Amsterdam. A gorgeous city with plenty to see and do. A word to the wise, though, drinks are expensive. We did most of our drinking around the Leidseplein and a pint was costing between 5 and 6 Euros each.
We stayed at a lovely hotel called Dikker and Thijs.
We climbed the Westerkerk that towers over the area we stayed in. Amazing views, very windy. Did you know, Amsterdam’s houses are so tall and thin because there was a tax on house width back when most of them were built.
Loads of amazing street art to be seen.
Ben, generally out did me in the fashion stakes. In this picture he is wearing a Firetrap shirt and his ASOS sunglasses. In my picture I am wearing all the prints in the world. (H&M top, Next trousers, Converse, Zebra snood and heart-print cardi.)
There was a section where all the 36 different varieties of Bols were lined up and you could sniff them. Ben and I spent ages guessing each one. Evenyone else just sauntered through only trying a couple. They missed out. My alcohol smelling skills are second to none now.
The entry price came with a free cocktail and two shots each! Mine was lovely (pink) Ben’s less so (yellow).
We also had the pleasure of watching the first Holland Euro 2012 match against Denmark. What a frustrating game. Ben wore his orange shirt and I wore my orange Aztec dress. We had to support the locals!
Heron-stalking in the Vondelpark before heading to find a Geocache.
This boutique was called by Fabrio and it took my breath away. Everything was 29.95 Euros and I wanted everything. I didn’t buy the green wedges or orange jacket (but oh god, I wish I had) but instead bought some flat sandals (practical) and a colourful skull necklace (which broke straight away and will have to be taken back. Its fate is yet undecided.)
I felt cool after discovering such a boutique. And, once again, Ben is looking much more stylish than me!
