Pretty things from Petit Bateau

31 Jan

I cam across this brand very recently. Each piece is feminine and elegant. Founded in the thirties, Petit Bateau creates soft, brightly-coloured cotton garments. They are simple and utterly beautiful.

That maxi skirt is to die for and I love the peacoat. I’ve got a thing about nicely structured coats. Definitely need a new one. The one about is just £122.

Using costume jewellery to enhance an outfit

26 Jan

I really love the idea of layering up loads of jewellery to really put some oomph into an outfit. Bebe Zeva of Fated to be Hated does it particularly well!

Costume jewellery is particularly good for this because it tends to be bold, bright and rather affordable. Generally, with designer jewellery you’d want to have it on its own standing out. There’s no worries there with costume jewellery. Layer it up to turn heads!

Stackable rings are great to get that chunky look. They can either be separated out and worn across both hands or they can be stacked.

Necklaces can also be layered up. Try to stick with one colour or theme. Multiple black cross necklaces can give edge to a gothic-style look. Or using necklaces of different lengths can add interest to an otherwise plain top.

It’s the same with bracelets. If you have bare arms or are weating a simple long-sleeved top then a stack of bracelets could look fantastic.

There is, of course, the chance of over doing it. There’s no need to wear 12 necklaces and 32 bracelets. If you are going to stack up your accessories then maybe stick to one body part.

They also say never to mix gold and silver jewellery. I disagree, this discord can often work well. Especially if the colours help to tie different pieces of your outfit together.

Diane Von Furstenberg at Matches

I really love Diane Von Furstenberg and I wanted to share some of the most stunning pieces from the Matches website. I’m particularly loving all the dresses.

I love the bold prints and colour block dresses especially. The bottom left dress is particularly stunning and has great detail at the back. I love the mix of ivory, white, pink and black. It would make the perfect summer party dress for all those ladies out there with a bit of class and style.

The bottom right is a silk dress that makes me pine for the money to buy it. I bet it’s light and so comfortable. I love the print.

The accessories are beautiful too…

Retro dresses from Boohoo

24 Jan

There’s some amazing pieces on Boohoo.com at the moment. Particularly the dresses. Here’s some of my top picks. I’m particularly loving the retro vibe with some of the brand’s new pieces.

dress

The waist detail of the dress is stunning. It’s simple and understated but there’s an elegance to it. I love the monochrome with the polka dots. Beautiful.

Lace panel dress

The lace panel in the dress is beautiful. It also comes in red.

floral dress

I think this is the most beautiful dress I’ve seen in a long time. The colours are perfect for Spring and the length is great. It would look lovely with tights during this transitory period.
