Topshop rock picks

30 Nov

Now that Topshop is a little more accessible to me I thought I’d trawl the site for all the beautiful things. There’s a real rock vein running through the items at the moment. Perfect for winter and perfect to satisfy the dire need I have for rock’n'roll, glitter and sequins.

1. Knitted Sequin Zig Zag Dress – £58 – This dress could either add a little bit of glamour to your winter wardrobe or you could wear it with dark tights and glittery boots for an evening out.

2. Stripe Fur Capelet – £45 – I LOVE this! It’s such a cut alternative to a scarf and would look great over a simple top and cardigan.

3. Knitted Sequin Star Jumper – £46 – This looks cute and cosy with stars and sequins. Really, what more could you want?

4. MOTO Zebra Skinny Jeans – £45 – I can barely comprehend that these exist. I love them. With chelsea boots, or men’s black cowboy boots. Hell, they’d even look great with UGGS… Maybe not.

5. Star and Lightning Bolt Collar Necklace – £16.50 – Stars and lightning bolts are two of my favourite things when it comes to fashion (and tattoos) so this necklace is perfect for me! I love the bluey-greens with the gold chain.

6. AMBER Glitter Heel Boots – £80 – I’ve recently realised that boots with a low heel are pretty comfortable. Even if these weren’t I bet I could dance all night in them. Just for the glitter. They’d look great with those zebra jeans.

Take a look at my top picks from Sosolo

29 Nov

I was recently contacted about Sosolo. I’m all for checking out new online retailers and with this one I was very impressed. They have on offer all sorts of beautiful items and the site itself looks stunning. Here are a few pieces I loved. Click on the image to go to the product page.

The only issue I could see was that most of the items don’t really go up past a size 12 or 14. Understandable for the vintage pieces but I’d like to see a wider range of sizes in the So For You category.

Everything looks quite edgy with a bit of on trend fashion and hipster-goodness thrown in. I really like the styles of some of the dresses and all the statement prints that can be found throughout the site.

Monday Want

28 Nov

I’m still on the hunt for a really spectacular pair of winter boots but I’m so fussy that it’ll probably be that by the time I find some it’ll be summer again.

winter boots fur

These Sixty Seven Traviata boots have made me dribble a bit. I’ve got a bit of a thing for furry boots. Actually any items of clothing with a bit of fur. (Although not new fur…)

These aren’t going to break the bank at £141 but that’s not really a practical price in the run up to Christmas. However, I really, really want them…

They look sturdy enough to clomp through puddles and keep the cold out. The sole also have loads of grip which would make things easier come all the snow and ice we seem to be destined for. (Please, God, no).

Slendertone Abs Belt Christmas challenge

25 Nov

I’ve been set a challenge by the Slendertone folks to use one of their abs belts from now until Christmas then to blog about the results. I’m writing this blog post as my stomach muscles are contracted to all hell!

Here’s what comes in the box.

The whole thing is quite easy to set up and needs charging for two to three hours before you can use it. Then, essentially, it’s just attaching little sticky pads to the belt putting it on and pressing a few buttons.

The sensation is weird. On the lower settings it feel just like a vibration but higher up (I’m on 79) you can feel the roll of your muscles (I assume that’s what it is). It’s not unpleasant or painful just strange. A completely new feeling. It’s better than sit ups.

I’m going to see my personal trainer tonight so I’ll ask what he thinks on muscle contracting items like this. Hopefully I won’t have ab ache.

You need to bear in mind that whatever comes at the end of this challenge will also be done through exercise and diet too. There are no quick fixes. However, toning is much more difficult than losing weight so if, once I’ve lost all the flab, my muscles are all nice and toned through this I’ll be happy. I don’t think there’s much point in doing any before or after shots. I don’t really want to get my stomach out on my blog. Maybe I’ll try this again when my body fat percentage is nearer 20%.
