Low-fat, egg-free “French Toast”

29 Jul

This isn’t really French toast but I had a craving for it and needed a low-fat version quickly. This is well and truly made up so feel free to comment with any additions you would’ve made. Also, feel free to change the quantities as you see fit! You could use skimmed milk for less fat or honey instead of maple syrup for less calories!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup of semi-skimmed milk
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon powder
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 2 slices of wholewheat bread
  • Low-fat spray oil

Method

  1. Mix the milk, cinnamon and maple syrup together in a bowl.
  2. Soak the bread in the milk mixture until as much of it is absorbed into each slice as possible.
  3. Heat a few squirts of low-fat spray oil in a frying pan
  4. Add the bread and turn regularly to stop it sticking/burning
  5. Cook until golden brown.

Eco-friendly shoes

28 Jul

I think sometimes we do need to think about our planet and what we are doing to it. There are so many manufacturing processes and materials that can harm our planet. Thankfully there are some companies out there who are willing to go down the environmentally friendly route.

It once was that eco-friendly shoes seemed to be just for hippies, they only came looking like you’d strapped a piece of bamboo to your feet. Not any more, eco-friendly shoes can be just as sexy as all others. Plus you get a clear conscience and can brag to all your friends.

Greefit eco shoehigh heel eco shoe

These Greenfit shoes are designed to be sexy. cute and very feminine. They are £104 and £97 respectively. The first pair would be perfect for the wedding season, wear with a coral dress and some simple jewellery. The second pair fit perfectly with this season’s seventies trend and they look super comfortable!

Pikolinoseco boots

These sandals and boots from eco-friendly brand Pikolinos are both beautiful. I love the ethnic style and colours of the gladiator sandals (£50) and they have a small heel that makes them perfect for a summer night out.

The boots (£95) are equally as lovely. They are the sort of boots that every girl should have in their wardrobe. Perfect for shopping (if you are good with heels), nights out, work and pretty much any other event you wouldn’t wear sandals to.

Weight loss update (rant)

26 Jul

So I’ve been going to a personal trainer now for three weeks. In the first week I lost about 9lbs.I’ve been eating much better than I was, I’m trying to cut out crap and I’m doing well to eat less carbs for lunch/dinner.

Since that first, awesome, week I haven’t been losing. In fact I think I’ve put on2 or 3lbs. It’s disheartening. It doesn’t help that I’ve been struggling with all the running I’ve been doing. My shins, calves, knees and ankles hurt. I’m finding that I can’t run as far or as fast as I could two weeks ago.

I need to do more to push myself. I need to eat even less and move even more. Maybe I need a nutritionist to feed me. I seem incapable of losing weight even eating the healthiest foods.

I going to run tonight and it’s going to be long, fast and pain free. I’m going to keep looking at pictures of hot, fit women and realise where I need to be.

Incidentally, that photo is from a recent photoshoot I did with Antonella Muscat and it makes me feel a bit better about myself because I don’t look terrible. (Even thought that VoH dress was so hard to do up on that day.)

Here’s to getting fit, losing weight and staying bloody motivated!

The hunt for the perfect dress

26 Jul

I remember when I was about 16, I never really wore dresses. I was a proper tomboy. My mum told me that I should wear dresses and that I’d look good. I just couldn’t see them ever suiting me. I preferred my jeans, cowboy boots and band t-shirts.

We bought two dresses on that first day shopping and I’ve been obsessed ever since. I am ever on the hunt for the perfect dress. My current dilemmas are a dress for a wedding and warm jumper dresses for all these outdoor events I keep going to. I can’t rely on the British weather to keep me warm!

I’m fairly tall and my biggest issue, with day dresses especially, is finding ones that come to my knees. My thighs are far too wobbly to be shown off in public, even in leggings.

This dress from Freeman’s (£65) is much more my style than some of the bum-skimmers from high street shops. this is knee length, pretty  and has a flattering neckline.

This dress (£38) is very tempting for the wedding I have to go to in August, but generally I’m not sure this fitted shape suits me. I think I’d feel much more comfortable in something with a full skirt. However, the shape, texture and colour is just gorgeous.
