More new shoes

13 Apr

With an (hopefully) impending house purchase I need to start cutting down on the things I buy. I also need to sell a whole load of my stuff. But, I’m not relinquishing these new shoes.

Betty London Mokia sandals in Moka – £68. I can’t wait to wear these with my T-bags maxi dress. Perfect for lounging around in the sunshine. I’ve yet to try them on despite the fact they arrived yesterday. Not sure how easy they’ll be to walk in but that heel doesn’t look too tall.

I’ve wanted some Rocket Dog wedges for a while but the last pair I got broke so I had to send them back. These are the same style, Rocket Dog Goofup wedges in Beige – £38.40. It looks as if they have a higher platform than the others though. My first fondle of them turned up the fact that they are incredibly light. I find lighter high heels much easier to walk in than heavy clumpy things.

Could you be the new O’Neill girl?

13 Apr

O’Neill are hosting a very exciting competition to find the new O’Neill girl. But you have to be able to do more than just look good in a bikini, you have to have guts too because the winner of the competition will have to boldly stride down the One Way Runway and off the end into the sea!

This is all part of the launch of the Superkini, an innovative piece of swimwear, made with a new nanofront™ material, that hugs your figure even when wet! It makes jumping off the end of the One Way Runway marginally less terrifying.

Twelve finalists from the O’Neill Girls Facebook campaign will be flown out to Ibiza in June to walk the One Way Runway in front of a panel of judges.

The winner of the O’Neill One Way Runway competition will be flown out to a photo shoot on a secret beach location in September this year to star in the Spring/Summer 2012 campaign!

How you can enter

Enter by visiting www.facebook.com/oneillgirls between April 1st until May 13th. Girls can submit a photo which shows why they should be the face of the O’Neill Superkini international campaign and encourage their friends to vote for them. The top 12 finalists (3 winners with the most Facebook votes, 9 winners chosen by the ‘panel’ – including supermodel Elyse Taylor of Victoria’s Secret, Surfer Rain Jackson, top fashion editors and O’Neill Marketing Team member), will be flown out to Ibiza to walk the One Way Runway off a cliff straight into the sea.

The application on Facebook allows you to post the information on your Facebook wall and to share your uploads and votes with all your friends. The 12 finalists are announced on May 13th. The event pictures, the model posts/blogs and the movies from the event on Ibiza will all be posted on Facebook after the 10th of June.

Why it is exciting

You could be the face of this super cool brand. You might be a model looking for more exposure or you might just look damn fine in a bikini. Maybe you are reading this thinking of all your friends who look super hot in a bikini. Well, encourage them to get on Facebook and upload a picture.

O’Neill want you to jump off their runway, so your picture needs to be of you in the air. Show them just how awesome you are and link me to you entry, I want to see!

Pretty things from Bluefly

12 Apr

Bluefly are another online shop who specialise in discount designer clothes. They sell Gucci, Prada, Fendi, Acne, J Brand and much more! I’ve picked out a few pretty things that will be perfect for this summer!

Fendi handbags are a great way to inject a little bit of colour and life into your summer wardrobe and this canvas tote would be perfect for shopping and the beach. (Although it costs $940, so maybe not the beach…)

This Sue Wong dress is light and wonderful. It’s perfect for summer evening cocktail parties. Wear with bright heels and a lot of bright bangles. Dress down with a short sleeved cardigan and pretty flats.

These Prada wedges would make great everyday summer shoes. I bet they’re super comfortable. Wear with a short sundress, or to make you look tall and willowy in a maxi.

Feeling Fruity – Do I dare go for lemon print?

8 Apr

As you all know, I’m about real, wearable fashion rather than worshipping the catwalks – clothes should be made for everyday women rather than the willowy models, methinks – but there have been a couple of designer trends that have set a twinkle in my eye. And as the sun is finally deciding to show its head, I think it might actually be time to road-test a few of them.

Aside from colour-blocking, my favourite new trend is fashion’s love of crazy prints. Not just spots or stripes, but big, bold tasty FRUIT prints. They’re everywhere – and they are pretty damn tropical, from cherries to kiwis and back again.

Prada had some crazy pineapple-looking prints, and big banana shirts that I loved! The above outfit looks amazing in that tropical colonial town, but I can’t see thousands of women working it around Norwich. However, maybe we should break out the fruit prints and try something different!

This dress worn by The Guardian’s Jess Cartner-Morley would really work on curvier figures, as the print isn’t too over-the-top/Club Tropicana and the waist-tuck is quite gentle. Whilst I can’t be spending £400 on that Sano dress, luckily I have spotted some gorgeous high-street equivalents in that wonderful 50s-inspired shape.

My ultimate favourite are these new prom-style dresses from New Look that are really neatly cut.

This one is a sort of shift-style simple top with a pleated skirt that gives a lovely flare– perfect for giving you a real hourglass silhouette. And best of all, the prints are to die for! This lovely lemon also comes in a skirt. I think it’ll actually look quite nice with a paler skin tone – I’d probably wear it with some wedges or a peep-toe flat, and a sunhat, as hats seem to have become my new obsession since the vintage fair.

There’s also this purple flower print dress in a similar style which is also making me fall head-over-heels… The prom-dress style is perfect for summer, and you never feel too exposed – or too dangerously ‘trendy’. I’ll be saving up my pennies again – but thankfully not too many, as I think I can find the above for about £25!
