I finally bought some Blowfish

26 Feb

I’ve been wanting some Blowfish boots for a while now, they just looked so different to all the other shoes that are out there at the moment. So I bought some from Spartoo. I went for a 7.5 in size and I now know that I could’ve done with an 8.

Blowfish

Dress: Very / Leggings: ASOS / Blazer: Dorothy Perkins / Scarf: Zara / Shoes: Spartoo / Bag: H&M

Apologies for a mirror shot, I hastily snapped this on a night out with a few of Ben’s friends. The outfit is nothing special. I just wanted to show of the new shoes! They’re really comfy. I’ve got a thing about shoes I can just wear anywhere. I do like my UGGs but they are ugly and despite the comfort I don’t want to be one of those girls who wears UGG boots all the time. I think I’ve got more imagination than that.

So these shoes have replaced the UGGs at work and are now part of my day to day look. Blowfish do all other sorts of shoes too. In face the comfiest pair of pumps I own are by them. They fit perfectly (size 8) and don’t rub. I’ll show those off another time.

Go treasure hunting and win £10,000 of prizes

23 Feb

Yell have an amazing competition going on at the moment and the music lover (and treasure hunter) in me needs to tell you about it. There are ten copies of Day V Lately‘s Pulse & Thunder stashed away in music shops across the UK and you have to find them. The way to do this is to use Yell.com or download the Yell app for iPhone and Android. Good news for me, I always find I’m left out of stuff like this because no one cares about us poor Android geeks!

Find a record shop in your area and have a hunt through the vinyl section. If you find one then you could be in with a chance of winning £10,000 worth of prizes including a 3D TV, sound system and even mixing lessons! And all it takes is a bit of Golden Ticket treasure hunting. If you find yourself in music shops often then this could be the perfect competition for you. Just pay extra attention to the vinyl section and make sure you have that Yell app with you at all times.

So, it’s a case of finding record shops with either Yell.com or the Yell app. Find the record then snap a picture of yourself with it. You can then enter the competition with that image via the Yell Facebook page. It’s simple. Happy hunting! Let me know if you find it, I’ll be hunting around Norwich.

Of course, terms and conditions apply. For more info visit www.facebook.com/yell.

Designer jeans

23 Feb

I’ve been thinking about jeans a lot recently. I’m most certainly a dress person but there’s something quite nice about slinging on a pair of jeans with a t-shirt, jacket and some nice shoes that’s just simple and easy. But the thing it, you can’t pull of a chic look in jeans unless you have the right pair. Go for quality and make sure you get a fit that suits you.

These Starcy Bootcut Jeans are great for balancing out wide hips and the dark denim is very flattering. Wear with low-heeled boots for a smart casual look, glittery, platform shoes for going out or converse for those stylish yet lazy days.

These Tight Long John Jeans are a skinnier, straight leg fit. If you are going to be wearing them with flat pumps then make sure you have the legs for it. These sorts of jeans help to create curves on ladies with more boyish figures. If you are slightly curvier then wear with big military boots to balance out your shape. The fading down the front is great for slimming down larger thighs too.

These Replay jeans are great for comfort. They look great with boots and trainers plus they are baggy, which means you’ll probably be able to breath in them. The distressed patches are very on trend. Team with a leather aviator jacket.

There are a wide range of designer jeans at accent clothing with brands such as Nudie, Replay and True Religion available.

Back to my roots – Goth Shoes

23 Feb

I used to be a Goth, although I use that term loosely, I wore black, heavy boots, dark makeup and had black hair. I was probably only about 14. I was going to darkwave club nights in Norwich and hanging around with people who only wore PVC and lace. Those were good days but I was wondering how the style I rocked back then has affected my current style.

I certainly don’t wear all black now. My wardrobe is full of colour and texture. However, I do still have a love for Goth/rock boots and still own a pair of New Rock boots and various pairs of DMs.

My make up is still generally quite eye heavy but a lot more retro than it used to be. My hair isn’t quite as weird but it’s certainly alternative. I still love PVC, leather and studs but paired with bright colours and sheep print fabric.

These are almost exactly the New Rock boots I still have and they are all sorts of clunky wonderful. I’d love to incorporate them into my style once again. I’m thinking leather-look leggings, a sleek black dress with a big waist belt and lots and lots of black jewellery with studs and chains. And big hair. I could make these ‘fashionable’, or at least a bit more stylish.
