Emu Oil Well: Lip Balm

I’ve always suffered with dry lips and until recently I used to slather myself in Vaseline and believed the job was done. How wrong I was, it is actually quite bad for your lips to just coat them in petroleum jelly. It tricks your lips into thinking they are moisturised so they stop producing as much moisture as they should be so as soon as you stop using Vaseline you are dry again. This actually made a whole deal of sense to me because although I found Vaseline soothed the dryness it never cured it and I had to be constantly greased up. Not a sexy look.

Having gotten my hands on some Emu Oil Lip balm I first tried the Strawberry flavour (one of six different flavours), the formula for it has been changed now, it was very hard and difficult to get any on your finger to suitably moisturise your lips. Apparently now it has been changed, thanks to my suggestion, and is now soft and fluffy like all the rest. I went back to bog standard, non-natural lip balms. I’d presumed that all the Emu Oil Lip Balms would be hard and in need of a few hours in the airing cupboard before they were usable but once again I was wrong. I picked up some Orange lip balm. Well, it hasn’t left my bag since I got it, I use it every day and I have soft supple lips all the time.

I don’t have to constantly cover myself in the stuff, one or two applications a day to moisturise the skin is usually enough. I don’t tend to urge people to do anything but stop ruining your lips with harsh petrochemicals in crappy products. Use natural lip balms.

Just look at the ingredients all natural ingredients with no parabens or petrochemicals in site. This makes for a very happy Jess. I intend to try the Strawberry flavour now that it has been fixed although I really do love the orangey flavour. It makes me feel summery even though it is tipping it down with rain.
